HOW INTUITIVE DO YOU THINK VEHICLES WILL BE IN 10 YEARS TIME?

A new concept car would be operated with a shifting of weight, rather than with a steering wheel. The 'intuitive' vehicle would use voice and facial recognition sensors to provide drivers with information throughout the journey, with the aim of building trust and recognition "similar to those a rider will have with a horse". This is an imagination piece " rather than something that will be seen in production in the next few years," a said a spokesman for the company. "But some of the technologies we're suggesting could be introduced further down the line - say in five to 10 years' time." How intuitive do you think vehicles will be in 10 years time? Should the driver always maintain an element of control, or would the vehicle be safer behind the wheel?

Is it a good thing that any and all ideas have a shot at being developed, or are there some that should remain on the drawing board?

THE USES FOR A DNA DATABASE.

Scientists have found a method to identify whether a particular gene sequence has come from a person’s mother or father, which will allow doctors to determine a person’s risk for disease. The team at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine predict that in the future, everyone’s genomes will be sequenced onto a DNA database, with one benefit being that it would help to speed up the process of matching organ donations. What other uses do you think a DNA database would have?

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO COMMERCIALIZE GRAPHENE?

Whilst the UK has been at the forefront of graphene research, only 1% of the graphene based patents have been filed from the UK. The majority are held by China and South Korea. Which country do you think will be the first to commercialize graphene and what factors do you think will have contributed to this?
